HF Rubber Machinery is Hiring an Engineer I Near Topeka, KS

Description

HF Rubber Machinery, Inc., a subsidiary of the HF Mixing Group, is the global leader in the manufacturing of rubber and plastic processing equipment. HFRM, based in Topeka, Kansas is looking for an Engineer I. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, a positive and professional image, ability to work with all levels of employees, excellent organizational skills and be a self-starter with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.

The Engineer I performs engineering duties in planning and designing parts and machines with the incorporation of hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:

  • At the direction of the Project Engineer, assesses project requirements/specifications, updates BOM and/or drawings, and notifies associated team members/departments regarding any modifications affecting lead time and production.
  • Assists the Project Engineer with developing the rebuild process with manufacturing Management in order to develop costs for sales.
  • Interacts with HFRM production staff to define and solve manufacturing and/or design issues while implementing cost reduction ideas.
  • Ensures professional and prompt communication with customers, HFRM staff and vendors.
  • Identifies and inputs data into the Stock Book, Material Master Databases, MRP system for jobs.
  • Provides technical support for defining requirements for sub-contracts and in-house production operations.
  • Supports project engineers on their assignments.
  • Develops and checks engineering drawings.
  • Develops sketches and drawings from design data and other part design information.
  • Revises existing part designs and drawings to implement design changes.
  • Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical and other physical sciences to match orders with part/system designs.
  • Provide cost estimates for parts and equipment needed for projects.
  • Researches and completes changes as defined in the established Engineering Change system.
  • Provide input for design review of parts.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in engineering or a related field is required or five (5) years of work experience is required. A combination of both education and experience may be accepted as determined by HFRM.
  • Technical school certification in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent software would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality system requirements beneficial.
  • Knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to develop part and machine designs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to apply that knowledge to the development of part designs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present information and answer questions clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to analyze data or information by identifying the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, plan, set priorities and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of HFRM.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
